Brian Regan Tickets - No Slang for This Funnyman

By: Brent Warnken

It isn't just that he has performed on The David Letterman Show 20 times in his career; it's just that Brian Regan is that good. The stand-up comedian and critically acclaimed artist has earned mainstream attention thanks to humor about the classics, never ranting, cursing or raving as he entertains audiences the old school way - with jokes that deal with society's everyday humor.

Regan continues to tour in support of 2008's DVD The Epitome of Hyperbole, which has him appearing across the States with dates into late June. "I like to think that if someone pays attention to what I do," he said to Projo.com, "they'll realize, he's not quite as dumb as he's saying that he is. And that's sort of the point." Now he's entertaining audiences all over the States, go online and pick up your own Brian Regan tickets now.

Taking a cue from the Smothers Brothers, Johnny Carson and Steve Martin, Regan has found a way to harmonize the world of his influences and a new tune, one that makes comedy okay for both adults and children. "The joke is about how we feel sometimes, as opposed to how we really are. And I think most people go through their life trying to fit in and not really ruffle any feathers. But it's hard to not feel inadequate at times,".

Born fourth of eight children, Regan took to comedy after studying accounting at Heidelberg College in Ohio and working the Comic Strip in South Florida. His success came after working for nearly two decades, picking up the 1996 American Comedy Award for Best Comedian and premiering for the first time on The David Letterman Show.

With his PG-rated material he has audiences not only crossing country lines but breaking age barriers as well. Though this appeal may not be his ultimate goal, it has helped his latest album sell well. "I don't want to paint myself into a corner, like Mr. Family Comedian, I still like to have things that have an edge or a point of view to them, that aren't necessarily for 11-year-olds," he said to Projo online.

For fans, most are rest-assured that nothing will ever slip - as his mind, he admits, doesn't go as far as most adults. His jokes are formed clean and they come out clean, and if that gives Regan an edge to an untouched comedy outlet, then so be it. Unlike other comedians, he hasn't yet tapped into the commercial market. Without any sitcom or movie credits to his name, the only real way you're going to enjoy Regan is on stage.

For Regan, the commercial credit isn't as successful as just having a stand-up career. He achieved his lifelong dream when he performed on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, and he has starred in two Showtime specials and a series of late night shows. He has worked with his brother Dennis on Showtime's A Pair of Jokers and hosted Comedy Central's Short Attention Span Theater, among other things. He annually performs about 80 shows, while his platinum album of 1997, Brian Regan Live, is still a bestseller.
